Drop me an email to explain what the issue/requirement is and I will confirm whether or not I believe I can assist. Sometimes it might help to send photos or audio/video files, as this might help you avoid a car journey for nothing! However for a straightforward guitar set-up, for example, this probably wouldn’t be necessary.

I will give you an estimate of what the likely cost will be, and you can then decide whether you wish to proceed. If you do then you will need to bring the instrument/equipment to me (preferably in its case, if it has one, along with any tools that came with it) and I will subsequently assess it and confirm that all is as expected. If it is not then I will contact you and advise you what I have found, along with a revised quote if necessary. I will not commence any work until you let me know that you wish me to proceed. Note that a basic set-up is likely to cost around £45 (adjust truss rod and pickup height, and correct action and intonation); a new set of strings will also be required which either you can either supply, or I can provide for an additional cost (note that I only carry 10-46s).

Important note: once work has commenced it is possible that additional difficulties or issues will be encountered, often exposed after an item has been disassembled to access the known areas requiring attention. Again, if this is the case I will liaise with you before continuing with any extra work.

Note that although I will do my best to repair/refurbish your item, please bear in mind that I can’t fix everything, and some faults might be irreparable. If I believe that the fault can be repaired, but requires the attention of a specialist then I will inform you of this. Also, for example, I have worked on Gibsons that that were so poor that all I was able to do was get them as good as they would go, but I have also set up lower-end guitars that were a joy to work on, and ended up as stunning players.

Please be aware that I do not carry a high volume of spares, as there are so many different types that it would be uneconomical to do so. Repair times may thus be dependent on lead-times for ordering parts.

Payment:

Usually cash on collection, or payment in advance of collection via bank transfer. Note that for higher value work I may require a minimum of 50% of my estimated cost to be paid when the instrument/equipment is left with me. The remainder is to be paid on or prior to collection. If it is a fault that I cannot fix, I will refund the 50%, and no further payment will be required. Also note that if you require me to purchase any high value accessories or replacements then I may require a higher ‘up-front’ payment percentage. I will generally waive any ‘up-front’ payment for regular repeat customers.

Only payment in cash can be accepted. No cheques, credit/debit cards or Paypal, etc.
